Gwenlake has been admitted to MedTech Europe, the European medical technology association, as an Associate Member, Partner in Research.

It follows several years of technical work in data science and artificial intelligence for medical research, and it commits us to two of the association's committees: Research & Innovation, and SME.

Why the committees matter more than the badge

Membership on its own is a line on a page. The committees are where the work is: Research & Innovation is where methods and priorities get argued over before they become anyone's roadmap, and the SME committee is where the companies that are not large enough to set the agenda on their own get to say what a rule will cost them in practice.

Being in the room for both is the point. Medical research is one of the places where the gap between a result and a system that clinicians can rely on is widest, and most of that gap is engineering, governance and evidence rather than modelling.

What we bring to it

The same thing we bring to a client project: data that can be traced back to where it came from, models that were evaluated before they were deployed, and systems that stay explicable once they are running. In a regulated sector that is not a preference, it is the condition for the work to leave the lab at all.

We are looking forward to working with others in the sector on turning scientific discovery into something that reaches patients faster, with data and AI doing the part they are actually good at.
